People of Rochester - Brook and Emily

I was walking in my neighborhood when I met Brooke and Emily, sitting on a porch. They graciously agreed to let me photograph and interview them. They are friends and coworkers at Black Button Distilling. Brooke, who is originally from Canandaigua, moved to Rochester about a year ago. Emily was born in Rochester and grew up here.

When I met them, Brooke had had her first shot for the COVID-19 vaccine, and Emily was scheduled for her first shot in mid-April. They’re both looking forward to being fully vaccinated, now that their employer is allowing customers back in the building. They said that when Black Button Distilling was closed to the public because of the pandemic, the company started making hand sanitizer.

Emily said, sometimes, when they’re watching a movie or TV show that predated the pandemic, they’re jolted to see people close together, not wearing masks. They’re both looking forward to the time when things get back to normal, and they can go to concerts again.
